After selling one of our top alpacas, we started a search
to replace her. We searched the web, visited several
farms and looked at dozens of alpacas. Our search
brought us back to our trusted friend, Cindy Lavan of
Chase Tavern Farm. We told Cindy we wanted a 3-5 year
old proven female, medium fawn bred to a champion stud,
beautiful head and she had to be DENSE!
Cindy offered several for us to choose from but Amena
caught our eye right away.
Amena looks more Vicuna than alpaca, from her head, to
her color pattern, but her fleece has the density of a
top alpaca.
We chose to pair her with Marvelous Gold this year
after seeing how he improved on all he was bred to.
Amena needs no improvement, so their cria could be
something special.
This is one of those times we may prefer a male cria
from Amena!
